Press Release from Carey Olsen, Tuesday 21 January, 2025.
Carey Olsen is pleased to announce that associate Shuting Zhao has joined the firm's litigation, insolvency and restructuring team in Singapore.
Shuting's primary areas of practice include commercial litigation and insolvency, with a focus on shareholder disputes and company law. He joins the firm from King & Wood Mallesons in Shenzhen, where he advised high-profile clients in the People's Republic of China ("PRC") courts and arbitral institutions on a wide range of commercial disputes relating to cross-border loans and guarantees, equity investments, financial derivatives and share ownership.
Shuting is qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales and holds a PRC Certificate of Legal Profession Qualification. He was recognised by the Shenzhen Lawyers Association as the Next Generation International Lawyer of Shenzhen in 2023.
Shuting commented: "I am delighted to join Carey Olsen's litigation practice and look forward to working alongside my new team on a range of commercial litigation and insolvency cases relating to the laws of Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. Carey Olsen's presence in Asia and the depth of support for PRC clients from its Singapore and Hong Kong offices are gaining traction quickly, which makes 2025 a particularly exciting time to have joined. I am excited to help expand the firm's capabilities and relationships in this area."
James Noble, head of Carey Olsen's litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice in Asia, commented: "Shuting is a welcome addition to our growing litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice in Singapore. He brings with him extensive experience advising on multi-jurisdictional, high-profile disputes and a knowledge of the Chinese market which will be of great value to our PRC clients and work".
Carey Olsen Singapore has been ranked Tier 1 for the fourth consecutive year in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific Guide since the offshore law category was introduced in the Singapore rankings, with more of its lawyers ranked than any other offshore firm. It also has the largest offshore litigation team in Singapore.
