Bromley, Blake

One of the world's foremost experts in charity law. He works with donors, charities, foundations and governments on legal, financial and strategic issues, and has incorporated and registered over 650 charities. He focuses on policy and strategy in domestic and international philanthropy, advising governments in China, Russia, Vietnam, England, Australia, South Africa, and Eastern Europe on drafting their laws governing rights and tax privileges of social organizations.

Blake was called to the bar in British Columbia in 1978, and was a senior partner at Douglas, Symes & Brissenden, where his practice initially focused on personal tax, estate planning and wills, then evolved into providing sophisticated tax planning and legal advice to donors and charities. He was increasingly retained by charities and donors to plan and broker large gifts, so created Blake Bromley Consulting in 1995 to offer tax, strategic, and fundraising advice. He launched Benefic in 2005 to address developing trends in the benevolent sector.
