Frank De Lima Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance said yesterday that a double taxation treaty with France aims to free Panama from the black list of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), reports Newsroom.

De Lima said that the treaty would be the eighth negotiation of this type, and added that he is optimistic about the possibility of establishing at least 12 in 2010.

Panama has signed such treaties with Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Barbados, Spain, Qatar and Mexico.

"Our country also hopes to soon sign agreements with Singapore, Czech Republic, Ireland and Luxembourg," he said.
